Introducing Log My Time: Simple Time Tracking, Reports, and Invoicing

I am pleased to announce the release of Log My Time, a new browser-based application designed to make tracking work hours straightforward and practical.

Whether you are a freelancer, contractor, consultant, creative professional, or someone who simply wants a clearer record of where their working hours go, Log My Time brings time tracking, reporting, client organization, and invoicing together in one focused application.

Track Your Time Without Disrupting Your Work

At the centre of Log My Time is a simple clock-in and clock-out system.

Start the timer when you begin working, pause it when you need a break, and resume when you are ready. A separate pop-out timer can remain open beside your other applications, allowing you to keep an eye on your session without returning to the main website.

You can also set an alarm for a specific duration, which is useful for focused work sessions, scheduled tasks, meetings, or projects with a fixed time allowance.

When recording a session, you can include:

  • A client
  • A service or type of work
  • Notes describing the task
  • A billable or non-billable designation

These details make each time entry more useful when reviewing your history, preparing a report, or creating an invoice.

Review and Correct Your Time History

The History section organizes completed sessions by date and displays the start time, end time, duration, client, service, notes, and billing status.

Entries can be edited when something needs to be corrected or deleted when they are no longer required. This means a missed detail or incorrect time does not have to remain permanently in your records.

Create Reports and Visual Summaries

Log My Time can generate reports for the current day, week, month, or a custom date range.

Reports can be searched and filtered by client or service, making it easier to isolate the work completed for a particular project. Individual entries can also be included or excluded before preparing the final report.

Reports include useful summaries such as:

  • Total hours
  • Number of sessions
  • Average session length
  • Longest session

The selected information can then be exported as a CSV file or prepared as a printable PDF report.

The Charts section provides an additional visual overview of tracked hours and activity across weekly or monthly periods.

Organize Clients and Services

Clients and services can be created and managed directly within the application.

Services can include descriptions, hourly rates, billing settings, and applicable taxes. Once these records are created, they can be selected while tracking time and reused when preparing reports and invoices.

This reduces repeated data entry and helps keep billing information consistent.

Create Professional Invoices

Tracked hours can be brought directly into an invoice, or hours can be entered manually when needed.

Invoices can include:

  • Client contact information
  • Multiple services
  • Hourly rates and recorded hours
  • Automatic or manually entered taxes
  • Issue and due dates
  • Sequential invoice numbers
  • Business contact information
  • A custom company logo
  • Notes and payment information

Invoices can be printed or saved as PDF files. Editable invoice drafts can also be saved as JSON files and imported again later, allowing you to continue working on an invoice without starting over.

Offline-First and Under Your Control

Log My Time is designed as an offline-first web application. Your clients, services, time entries, invoices, and settings are stored locally in your browser, allowing the core application to continue working without a constant internet connection.

The application can also be installed as a Progressive Web App for a more app-like experience.

Because the information is stored locally, the Data section includes tools for exporting a complete backup and restoring it later. Regular backups are recommended, particularly before clearing browser data or moving to another computer.

Log My Time is now available at:

This is the first public release, and I plan to continue improving the application as I use it in real working situations. The goal is to keep it practical, approachable, and focused on the features people actually need to record their work and prepare accurate billing information.
