ATK Player 0.2.1: Smoother First Run, Faster Review
A polish release focused on a smoother first run and faster review, with a new installer wizard, welcome screen, and fewer save prompts.
ATK Player 0.2.1 is out now — a polish release focused on making your first launch smoother and everyday review work faster.
What’s new
- New installer wizard. The MSI now opens a branded setup wizard with the ATK logo, and the final page confirms the install succeeded with a Launch ATK Player checkbox to get you going right away.
- Welcome screen. First launch after installing or upgrading now shows a welcome window with a quick overview and links to send feedback or visit the creator’s website. Reopen it anytime from Help → Welcome to ATK Player.
- Frame number while scrubbing. Dragging the playhead now shows the current frame number in a badge just above it, so you always know exactly where you are.
- Fewer save prompts. Opening or closing a single video no longer nags you to save a project. ATK Player now only asks when there’s real review work at stake — bookmarks, a multi-clip playlist, or changes to a saved
.atkprojfile. - Cleaner default layout. The Bookmarks panel now starts closed so the viewer gets full width. Open it anytime with
F5, via View → Bookmarks Panel, or by creating a range bookmark.
For developers and pipeline integrations
- The API’s
discardUnsavedguard now follows the same logic as the save prompt —open_mediaon an untitled single-clip session with no bookmarks no longer requiresdiscardUnsaved: true. build-installer.ps1can now sign through Azure Trusted Signing.
Upgrading
Install the 0.2.1 MSI over 0.2.0 — it upgrades in place and keeps your preferences, projects, and media intact.
Requirements
- Windows 11 x64
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2015–2022 x64 Redistributable
A note on the download
The Windows build is currently unsigned, so Windows or Defender SmartScreen may flag it as an unknown publisher. Click More info → Run anyway, or unblock the MSI in its file properties. Verify your download against the SHA-256 hash on the release page.
